Woven Hearth
13th Century Medieval Lullabies
Woven Hearth is a collection of quiet compositions written for the end of a hard day, shaped around period-authentic instruments that would have been found in modest village dwellings common to rural life between the 13th and 17th centuries. The work is original and independently authored.
This music is created through a structured composition process using digital music tools, including MIDI sequencing, algorithmic composition methods, and artificial intelligence systems, all under direct author control. These tools function as instruments for generating, shaping, and organizing new musical material rather than as sources of existing compositions.
The workflow may include publicly available, freely usable, or independently created musical resources where applicable, combined with original material generated within the system. No copyrighted audio recordings are used as input at any stage.
No sampling, remixing, or transformation of existing recordings or compositions is used. The work is not derived from, based on, or constructed from any specific artist, track, dataset of copyrighted works, or identifiable musical recording. It is not intended to replicate or imitate any individual composer or existing work.
The music is strictly instrumental. There is no voice, no humming, and no singing of any kind. What remains is the natural resonance of the instruments themselves, shaped and assembled through the process to preserve their character without vocalization or lyrical content.
Flutes without keys, the breath present in the tone. Vielles, bowed lightly so each note falls away instead of sustaining. Small hand harps, gut or wire, plucked softly enough that only those closest would hear. The writing leans on modal structures, open intervals, and restrained harmonic movement, built to resolve into silence rather than continuation.
The pacing follows the body rather than a fixed measure, settling into the natural rhythm of breath and heartbeat as the day releases its weight. It does not press forward or hold tension. It releases. The sound is dry and close. No reverb is added. No sustaining effects are used. Each phrase ends in actual silence, not decay, as if the music stops where the room itself begins.
This is hearth music. It fills space without demanding attention. It draws people inward, toward one another, toward a shared quiet at the end of the day. It is not written to be analyzed in detail, only to be experienced as it passes, easing the weight carried in the body and setting it down.
The compositional approach follows a broader lineage of system-based music creation, including MIDI-era sequencing and early digital synthesis workflows, where music is constructed through constrained systems, rule-based structures, and parameter-driven design rather than direct performance capture.
The intent is functional: relaxation, de-escalation of stress, and reduction of mental and physical tension at the end of the day. A return to a pattern of listening that supports rest, reset, and recovery. A structure that allows what has been carried through the day to be set down, so the next day can begin again without residue.
